The Town of Oxford, located in Marquette County, Wisconsin, was officially established in November 1852 when it was set off from the Town of Packwaukee by the Marquette County Board. The first town meeting was held in April 1853 at the home of Robert Cochrane, one of the area's early settlers. In 1856, the village was platted by Pickens Boynton for Robert Cochrane, marking the beginning of structured development in the area.
